I teach in a small community full of kids excited to learn. My students are bright and energetic with the capabilities to do many good things in their lives. My students are from a small close-knit rural community that celebrates special events like the Maypole Dance and Pioneer Day. The area of our school is so large that some students need to take a 30-minute bus ride every morning.
I joined DonorsChoose because I know so many people that want to help our students and this is a great way for generous people to contribute and help our students.
I have been able to see many teachers and students benefit from the kind acts of donors.
Thank you for all that you do to help bring the necessary supplies to our classrooms.
Reading in schools and at home has been declining over the last decade. Students would rather play on their phones than talk to people or read books. Another problem that students have is the library at school never has enough of the books they want to read available.
The books I am requesting will give more students the opportunity to read the books they enjoy anytime during the school year.
I recently did a survey of the books my students would like to read. I gave a brief synopsis of some of the classics I grew up reading and compiled this list.
A lot of these books have been made into movies but the movies can never do justice to the complete stories that the author intended our children to read.
