Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are gifted and love to work with hands-on science projects. They work hard daily to solve problems and accomplish their goals. We are a new school, in our second year of existence. Because of this, we do not have all of the materials needed to thrive in our challenging society. Our school is a STEAM school that focuses on Science, Math, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.

Every day, my students arrive to my room ready to learn and excited for the opportunities the day will offer them.

I love my students!

My Project

My students are in need of a few basic items to help their science experience come to life in our classroom. Globes are used all year long - space, geologic time, plate tectonics, weather, human impact - everything we do is based off of the globe. Students really need to see and touch the globe to gain insight into how a flat map and the round world interact. My students are learning about different types of matter. The plasma globes teach them about gases and how they interact to create light. High quality magnets are needed in order for students to learn about magnetism and energy. And finally, in order to demonstrate the way light interacts with plants to promote growth from seed to plant, we need grow lights.

All of these materials help my students have a hands-on experience in science, experiences that will carry with them for a lifetime.
