My students are the most curious, intrigued, entry level programmer type students that you will ever meet. They come to school smiling, ready to take on the challenges of the day. They have to work hard. Many of them are second language learners. All of my students qualify for free breakfast and lunch and once a month, Second Harvest brings my children nourishing fruits and vegetables. Life is not easy for them, but nothing is going to stop them from learning and being the best they can be.
My Project
We have a project that we got funded called MOUSE. The program teaches students how to become as we say in polite terms the GEEK SQUAD. IT. However this Geek Squad is poor and using laptops from 2004 that the teachers used for teaching.
Technology changes and well in some of the projects we have for mouse the computers really don't like the work out.
Hence the title The Mouse is in a Trap. The trap being the old computers that won't work with the entire program.
With a Chromebook, my students will use it for Mouse and our district's i-Ready program to practice reading, math and programming during workshop time. This is a time during the day when I can work with students on their specific needs or gaps in their education. My students are at many different levels. Some of them are working on reading comprehension while others are working on math skills.
Please won't you find it in your heart to help us get the Mouse out of the trap and let it run!
