I work hard to accept, understand, and build upon each of my student's differences, diversity, cognitive, and emotional needs. The principle that drives me for my students is to make them feel welcomed, challenged, and supported in their efforts. My fearless learners have taught me more in such a short time, than I could ever impress on their learning careers.
On paper, my role is an Inclusion Special Educator, in reality my passion is to operate my classroom on the premise that students with disabilities are as fundamentally competent as students without disabilities.
Many studies over the past three decades have determined that students with disabilities have higher success and improved skills through inclusion education, but the beauty of this is that their peers without challenges benefit, too!
What a wonderful way to build self-esteem, teach motivation, and develop academic gains? This year, my role as an educator changed. I have gone from an Intellectually Disabled classroom to a classroom with beautiful general education and special education students!
My Project
We are requesting pencils so my students can be successful in their learning environment! My school is not characterized as a Title I, however we are a very diverse group of learners! The majority of my students do not attend school with pencils! Please, help my students be successful by providing pencils to make our learning environment less stressful!
Did you realize that pencils not only are used as writing utensils, but they allow us to make sense of the world around us?
We use pencils in the classroom for writing, drawing, thinking, vocabulary, grammar, counting, graphing, poetry, projects, science, social studies, creating something new, and assessments. We can't learn without pencils! The most versatile piece of technology is the PENCIL!
