Help me give my students activities and leveled readers to use in small group instruction, independent/partner workstations, and for additional practice at home in order to become more confident, fluency readers!
Our class is made up of 23 diverse students who each bring something valuable to our classroom! They are all at varying academic levels and all have varying personal and educational needs!
As one would imagine, first graders are FULL of energy and are all eager to please and learn.
Getting through lots of curricula each day, while differentiating instruction so all of my babies are able to learn poses a challenge when things are not hands on and engaging.
I am hoping to be able to have great, supplemental, hands-on opportunities that build on mandated curricula so that all of my students are able to succeed and meet and their individual goals this year!
These materials will help my students become more successful, confident readers. The dice and touch-to-read cards will be great in teaching students to decode and blend known sounds to read unknown words. The leveled readers will help students get books into their hands during small group instruction. They will be able to confidently read these readers independently during workstations or quiet reading time. They will also be able to take these home to continue practicing, while showing their families their reading progress.
Many times, once struggling readers get control of their confidence, they're able to more successfully build upon their reading foundation to become more fluent readers.
All of these materials will help my struggling readers, especially, become more confident, allowing them to build upon the basis of their reading foundation to become stronger, more fluent readers who are learning to love reading!
