My students need leveled readers, CVC Word Building Cards, Unifix Cubes, and Vowel Owlstm to encourage and enhance their reading skills.

My students are some of the strongest people I've met. At my school site, the majority of our students come from low-income households and live in poverty. My students have very diverse backgrounds. Some of my students live in the homeless shelter, some come from migrant families (waking up before dawn with their parents), and several of my students either live in a single parent home or live with their grandparents. Because of where my students come from, many students rely on the breakfast, lunch, and weekly snacks provided by the school as their main source of solid nutrition. Although my students battle poverty daily, they show up every day to school with a smile on their face and are eager to learn. They work at their highest potential, and the only thing they expect in return is a caring supportive teacher. Their high levels of positive energy and selflessness fills my heart with joy. I am proud to be a teacher to such a wonderful group of students, and I hope that I can provide them with the utmost support as they continue to grow.
The reading materials I am requesting for my students are all meant to enhance and encourage learning in the classroom all while having an endless amount of fun. Since so many of the students at my site suffer from homelessness, it is important that these students are given equal learning opportunities that will encourage them to strive for academic success. These materials will allow homeless students to be in a positive learning environment, and offer them hope for a better future. The leveled readers will provide students with a great variety of books to use for guided reading. The leveled readers will also keep students engaged in learning during small groups, and they will support the learning needs of all students. Also, to keep learning fun I think it is important for students to have hands-on activities that they can work on independently during their Universal Access learning time block. The owl vowel sorts activity and CVC Word Building blocks/cards will be extremely fun activities for students to work on, and at the same time, they will be building foundational skills. Also, to support learners who are not working at grade level, they can use the Alpha Pops to help them with making progress and growth within their current grade level. The activity "I have..Who has?" is a great activity for students to develop language and learn within small groups with their peers.
All of the activities I am requesting will allow students to work and learn together while engaging in academic collaborations with their peers.
The activities will also support language growth for my English Language Learners. Both the leveled readers and activities requested will offer a great amount of support to help all students' learning needs, and they will also contribute to the students' academic success.
