Mrs. Thompson from Savannah GA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need two Apple iPads to provide more technology to give them opportunities to explore and learn through interactive applications.

"If we teach as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow," John Dewey said, and this applies to giving students the opportunity to learn through technology. Unfortunately, our I have 22 students and only 4 computers. My students need the technology to be prepared for the future.
I have 22 first grade students that attend a Title 1, Academy School.
My students have scored high enough on entrance exams that has given them opportunities to be chosen for Gifted Endorsement classes and Academic Programs. Otherwise, these students would attend an average Title 1 school with a regular cirriculum and no challenges. These students are fortunate to get the best possible education. However, without the proper tools and current technology we are depriving the students of a world of knowledge right at their fingertips.
I know that I cannot ask for 22 IPads but I can start with two and build from there. The school system wants teachers to quit giving worksheets and has quit purchasing books for the library. Everything is online now. With IPads, my students will be able to work on applications provided by Apple. These programs will challenge and enrich my students in reading and math. When these students get to work on a computer, there is a spark in their eye that is indescribable.
Using computer technology will give students the differentiation they need.
Programs are built to challenge or provide interventions with all lessons for each individual child. This is an opportunity to help all students and all different levels. Teachers work hard but they can only teach one lesson at a time. With technology we can work on many different levels at the same time.
