My Students

Books can often be a child's first friend, mirror of themselves, or window into the lives of others. First-grade students are inquisitive about the world they live in. Like many of us, they enjoy reading about people, places, and things from around the world. My students build confidence and really shine when they share what they have learned with others through their reading.

Students have had limited opportunities during the last year to choose or read books that spark their imagination, help build their self-esteem, or encourage their creativity.

I want to invest in books that students can hold in their hands, take home, and enjoy.

My Project

Books have a remarkable healing ability, and the feel of a book in one's hands and getting lost in a story are memories that students can hold onto forever. I hope that with the selected titles, students will cultivate their reading interests. Children are looking for more information about their world, their feelings, or coping with life and the new changes due to the pandemic.

The stories selected will be at school and offered to children to take home and share with their families to bridge the home and school connection.
