I teach sixth-grade science in a small, rural Tennessee town. We are a high poverty area and many of my students do not always have the same opportunities as students in urban areas.
My students are inquisitive, eager to learn and love new challenges!
Our new curriculum is project based and enables all students to work at their own pace through the required work. Progress is monitored through checkpoints and students can easily see how they are progressing through their 6th grade work.
We have 'mini' lessons during the week which I base on student curiosities and historical contexts or to demonstrate science concepts we are learning or reviewing.
As a teacher, it is my responsibility to expand my students' horizons. Providing them with activities that stretch their brains and provide them with a challenge will motivate and engage my students.
My Project
LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Core Set is a hands-on, cross-curricular STEM solution that engages students by providing the resources to design, build and program their creations while helping them develop essential skills such as creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.
My awesome students need advanced challenges!
These expansion sets will provide them with the materials to use their coding and problem solving skills to create energy and environmental experiments with their robots which will gather data for students to analyze.
I want to provide my students with stimulating challenges that will not only stretch their abilities and keep them engaged, but also will provide them with an outlet to showcase their creativity.
