My students need a diffuser, aromatherapy oils, and yoga materials for creating a mindfulness classroom. We need to create a peaceful, relaxing classroom to stimulate our minds for learning.
We are a community-based educational program designed to assist those in a residential setting as well as from the public life. Our program is a collaborative effort between students, cooperating school districts, and the community. Our students have been unsuccessful in their "home district" and have come to us for support/guidance and quality education. Our curriculum consists of multiple learning activities through textbooks, technology, real world settings/experiences, as well as community outings. We love to use technology in our classroom and have finally pestered Google enough and now are participating in Google education. We are persistent and driven for success.

My Project
Scholarly research finds that mindfulness practice decreases stress and anxiety, increases attention, improves interpersonal relationships, strengthens compassion, and benefits students in numerous ways. Students demonstrate improved attention, better performance on academic tasks. Mindfulness is associated with emotion regulation. Mindfulness creates changes in the brain that correspond to less reactivity and better ability to engage in tasks even when emotions are activated. Students participating in mindfulness are more likely to help someone in need and have greater self-compassion. Our classroom is requesting an oil diffuser with essential oils that will help us create the atmosphere within our classroom to feel relaxed and ready to learn. We are also requesting some activity books and cards that we can utilize in practicing relaxation techniques that will improve our minds as well as our bodies for optimal learning.
