My Students

I teach in a rural district with students who are energetic and enthusiastic learners. It's a K-12 district, so many of my students have known their classmates since kindergarten! These kids are FANTASTIC to work with and I am on a continual quest to make my classroom a great place to learn. I am always developing new strategies to engage my students with meaningful experiences. A lot of my students struggle with making lofty plans because they have difficulty believing that someone from a small town can achieve big goals. If there is one common theme to my teaching it's that I want my students to think BIG and reach for their dreams!

My Project

I want my students to reflect on how they think and feel every day in writing. I plan to have each of my students keep a daily writing journal identifying what they've learned and considering what causes them difficulty on a daily basis. I believe this will increase their awareness of their thinking process and contribute to their mental and emotional well-being. I also want to use Fire 7 tablets so students can respond to questions with short videos. Students who hesitate to speak up to a group will have a new way to contribute, thus enhancing their social skills.
