The third grade has to cover many different types of genres. The genre that I think we are weakest at in materials is the Fairy Tales genre. I would like to read the story of Cinderella and discuss the point of view from the original story of Cinderella. I then would like to read other stories that cover the different types of point of views. Such as the Appalachian Cinderella, the Korean Cinderella, the Cinderella version told from the mouse's point of view and my favorite story is the version told from the stepdaughters' point of view.
I think this would benefit my school because of the access they have to books of this nature. We are small but are determined to show them the "fairy tale" side of life. This would open their minds to different point of views, different countries, customs & traditions.
We would need different copies of how Cinderella was written. I have researched and found that there are over 400 books that center around the different Cinderellas. It would be nice to have at least 20 to 25 different copies to start off.
Our students are required to read a variety of texts. This will give the students a wonderful chance of not only conquering a goal but discussing why authors write and the point of views they take while they write.
