My students need these products (organizer boxes; hanging file folders; dry erase lapboards, markers, and erasers; and pencils) to help create a space where many learning styles can be applied.
My students are part of a K-12 learning environment centered around the IB (Inter baccalaureate) program. As a school, we strive for our students to be well rounded individuals who possess the qualities of an IB learner. The vision of the Charter School is to inspire lifelong learners capable of pursuing their goals and contributing to their community by providing an environment where all school members treat each other with respect and celebrate student achievement.
Our students come from over 15 different school districts in the Lehigh Valley with curious and enthusiastic students that comprise the ever growing student body.
This allows for an energetic and exciting learning environment that helps create a diverse schooling experience.
My goal for my classroom is to have each child love learning, which requires a variety of teaching methods and multiple types of learning environments. The work I strive to do in my classroom will help students achieve goals, allow students to feel included in a community, and instill a passion for learning that they can take with them for years to come.
My Project
I am looking to create a learning environment that houses a multitude of different learning styles. This will included everything from an organized individual student mailbox system, to small group math centers and stations, to whole group learning activities.
My students are noticeably more engaged in the mathematics when they have a variety of learning styles available to them.
The whiteboards, erasers, and markers will be used in a variety of ways in the classroom. There will be times when the whole class is using them for quick and easy review of a concept, but will also be used for individual students to use during small group time with the teacher.
The small index boxes will house task cards and practice problems to be used during stations time when students are working both individually and in pairs to apply a new learning concept. The mailbox system will be used for individual student growth and will house extra practice materials for students.
