Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from a Title I School. These are great students. Most students are on free lunches and come from low-income homes. The students struggle academically, and spend most of their day in the classroom learning the basics.
I would like to see our students get the opportunity to explore more with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.
These students love to learn and explore. They get excited to create and learn new things in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. They only get one of the Fine Arts each year. It is either Dance, Music, or Art. They miss having the other two.
My Project
I have just started putting together a Makerspace Lab for all students at my school. The students will be able to spend time in the Lab creating projects in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. I need consumable materials to let the students create projects of their choosing.
These students work very hard in class, and I want them to have an opportunity to learn about things they are interested in with the
S.T.E.A.M. model.
I also will be training students to come up with their own projects that they can teach to the other students who come to the Makerspace Lab.
The students have seen me creating the Makerspace lab and they are so excited to be able to come. I just need some supplies to make that happen.
