Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I love to keep my students up and moving! Sitting in the same desk eight hours a day is boring and unhealthy. I love to have them dance to GoNoodle Reading songs and read in circles on the floor! I love using small groups so the students get a chance to learn from each other and are never bored or staring into space!
My students love to be engaged in learning and they love working together in collaborative groups!
Their hands are always raised and they want to stand up and teach each other. My students love to move around the class and help each other. There is a strong sense of community in our classroom.
My Project
There is a large push for informational texts in the classroom. The TIME for Kids Magazines will help my students read news articles and look at text features. It is important that my students are aware of what is happening in the world. The Who is Series will help my students do research on numerous famous women for their Women History Projects. They will be able to practice reading informational texts and will be able to compare and contrast famous women in history. Number the Stars is an example of high-quality, historical fiction that paints vivid images of World War II and helps the students understand the historical context. Number the Stars is wonderful for teaching characterization and sequence of event.
It is important that reading is a positive and magical experience that creates life long learners!
The Harry Potter rug and plush will help add to my magical classroom environment and the wands will be used as incentives to help keep the students engaged and highly motivated!
