Students in high poverty areas need to read novels rich in vivid imagery that will help their imaginations comes to life right there on the pages of the book.
Students in high poverty neighborhoods do not have enough opportunities to read high interest books that will spark their interest in reading. Students in my fourth grade room will learn about Native Americans and through the novel Indian in the Cupboard, this information will come alive in their minds and in their hearts.
Our classroom needs a class set of the novel Indian in the Cupboard. With this set, we will be allowed to reach a fabulous story about a young boy who learns about life. My students' imaginations will run wild in this story, sparking their love for reading. By reading the sequels in small reading groups, the kids will gain interest in a series of novels, creating a true love for reading.
Your help will ensure the love of reading in my students. It will give my students who do not have many opportunities in this world and opportunity to explore their love of reading. Your help will ensure a lifetime of love for reading and will lead to success in the world and in life. You can make a difference in the life of a child.
