My kindergarten students come eager and excited to learn every day. They come from diverse backgrounds and all receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students do not have books at home and they love listening to stories at school. I teach in a center based classroom and are listening center is lacking supplies for this center to be functional every day. Students learn through various ways and many of my students are visual and auditory learners. They love listening to stories and seeing the books come alive. The books and headphones will allow my students to enjoy this center and experience the love of reading.
My Project
I am requesting listening center supplies and books to allow all my students to enjoy reading. My students are comprised of special needs students, ESL students and typical kindergarteners. Many of my students come from homes where there are no books and no one reads to them. They all learn in different ways and the listening center gives them an opportunity to enjoy listening to stories. Students will be able to each have their own book copy as they listen to the various stories. These materials will help students with their listening skills, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. These materials will help my kindergarten students begin to read and become life long readers.
