HPA is an applied learning charter school, K-12, which integrates science, technology and the arts in the classroom. My students come from all different backgrounds and have an opportunity to learn and thrive at HPA. My students come from all over the Fort Worth area and are driven to school, their school of choice, each and every day by families who believe that HPA is the best place for their child’s education.
Curious, enthusiastic, and creative; my students are eager to immerse themselves in any kind of challenge.
My wonderful second graders enter the classroom ready to learn, discover, and explore. Every day they read, write, calculate, research, create, run, dance, play, and so much more and they love it!
It amazes me to see how much my students grow academically throughout the year. Their hard work and effort truly shows. The sky’s the limit for these kids! There’s nothing they can’t do when given the chance! They are fearless when it comes to technology and, as children of the 21st century, they need to be prepared to use a variety of tools to engage their world.
My Project
Having Kindles in our classroom will open the world of learning to more than just what is in our textbooks. In English Language Arts we will use them for further development of phonics and fluency skills as well as access to our awesome Super Kids curriculum.
In Math, we will have the ability to access many math apps including the Game Center in Pearson to work in tandem with our curriculum.
Math apps and tools will help identify our weaknesses and expand learning opportunities.
In Science and Social Studies we will use the Kindles to research and find the answer to so many questions: What makes a rainbow? How long does it take for a tadpole to become a full-grown frog? Who was George Washington? AND so many more!!
Kindles will allow us to view books online, take pictures of our hard work, scan QR codes, and make us able to answer our curious questions immediately. Students crave technology and adapt to it quickly. Kindles will add excitement and engagement to our classroom daily. Its use is unending!
