Help me give my students the ability to do everyday activities like unlocking doors or finding items that match. They get a reward with putty time and going outside on a beautiful day and blowing bubbles!
My name is Britney Baylor and I teach Special Education with severe profound high school students. My students are nonverbal and all have mobility issues. They are phenomenal young adults that make my job worth having. My students are unique and each have a funny way of getting their needs and wants "told." They have become part of my family here at our school. They are all given the same amount of love and devotion that I give my own children.
My Project
These items help my students get one-on-one time with the activities they need the most help on. These items teach them how to sort, match, and even how to open a lock. Simple task for us but difficult for them.
We have been practicing opening locks for almost an entire school year.
This lock board is something that I can send home with the students so they can get extra practice. We have also been working on fine motor skills. The sorting bears will be a great addition to our classroom routine.
