Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in low-income neighborhoods that do not offer many opportunities to grow outside of the school. Many of our students have come from various Latin American countries, with the hope and desire to adapt and succeed. Our school has a safe and stable environment for our students to explore their talents and to learn to succeed. Our school provides our students with opportunities to study Art, Dance, and Music, as well as the core subjects of Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
My Project
I believe that musical theater has a strong impact on our elementary students who have little exposure to the world of theater production and music outside of school. Their language skills, self esteem, and self confidence is growing with every practice.
In addition, we would love to incorporate some props such as electrical tea lights to recreate an enigmatic scene of He Lives in You and a fog machine to help us create dramatic Lion King moments.
We would like to include umbrellas and butterfly wings to portray an imaginary world of I Can't Wait to be King and Hakuna Matata.
It would be a dream come true to each and every one of our students if we are able to put on a show with matching costumes.
