Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students walk in to my classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. The joy of pure wonder. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything.
I teach at a Title I school in New Mexico where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students receive backpack food for the weekend, and our school runs a food pantry for our families. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their absolute best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.
My Project
Every kid deserves a safe space to learn, grow, and become whatever they want to be. This project is a teacher's dream to make my classroom like a home for my ESL students. Posters will provide motivation and visuals, ink will stock my printer for the year to create learning tools, post-its, markers, pens, etc. will stock my students' backpacks for the year and give us a treasure trove of tools to use to engage learning. Not all of my students have access to basic school supplies, or even consistent food. The most I can do is make my classroom like a home for them to come to, warm, safe, and a space to be themselves. Please give me the tools to make my space as welcoming and as engaging as I can.
