Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our new school building is under construction and in my mind, so is our new library! I am committed to ending this school year strong with new books for our students now and new books waiting in the new library. We have students who clearly love to read and others who we are trying to light a love of reading for. Our 6th and 7th grade students have an opportunity to come to the library every week and while some books will always remain favorites, I work hard to read and research new YA books so I have new options for them when they arrive.
My Project
Our new school building will open in a matter of days and a brand new library is waiting for new books and eager readers.
After a summer away, my goal is to engage students with new books to capture their imaginations.
Equally importantly is continuing to keep our rising students invested and involved in the library.
These new books will benefit both middle school and high school students. This will be our library's fourth year and our "first" class of 6th graders will now be entering high school. I need to keep these students invested in the library and can do this by having more high school fiction and non-fiction available for them.
