I work at an intermediate (6-8) school in League City, Texas with over 1000 students. Luckily, when Hurricane Harvey hit, our school only got minor damage, but some of my students were not so lucky and lost much more.
My school is filled with bright, energetic, amazing kids!
I teach students at every level and ability: on level, special education, 504, English Language Learners, Gifted and Talented, at-risk and more.
As mentioned, I have all different types of learners who all have different learning needs and styles. Being able to make my room, the computer lab, more inviting and comfortable will, hopefully, help me meet more students’ learning needs and give all of my kids a space they enjoy.
My Project
We all know computer labs can be cold and outdated. I am hoping that having flexible seating options will help make my students' experiences more comfortable and successful. I teach 8th grade College and Career Readiness, and the range in size of my students is large. I have added multiple seating products that can aid in an enjoyable learning experience and environment.
I have requested two Big Joe bean bag chairs to create a comfortable seating area for students not working on the desktop computers.
The lap desks and clipboards will help the students continue to work while in this area. I also requested multiple stools and cushions for those students who are working on the desktops. This way, there will be a variety of options rather than just the typical tables and desk chairs. For those students who do prefer a table and desk chair, I have included Wobble Cushions and Fidget Bands.
