I teach in a Title I school, with 100% of our students receiving free lunch and breakfast. My DonorsChoose.org for 14 ukuleles was recently funded and my kids are so excited. Over 50 kids have begged to be part of the club.
Now we need tuners and picks.
Battery operated ones are the most accurate. The kids have tried tuning them using an app on their phones. However, the noise from the other ukes interferes with this. I would like to get 7 tuners, 1 per pair of students. Ukes sound much better when you use a felt pick. I would like to get 28 picks for the students.
We are trying to get this club off the ground in January. Already the kids are asking to play with the ukes in homeroom and they have already starting learning chords.
We need your help!
As a ukulele player myself, I know the importance of a good, easy tuner and a nice pick to optimize the sound of the uke. My students have been using my tuner, but 1 is not enough for 14 ukes. These are accurate and easy to use.
These tuners and picks will ensure that are ukes are always sounding the best that they can.
The kids already have experience using this type of tuner and pick.
Although these items aren't all that expensive, I can't afford to buy them myself. I don't want the kids to have to share 1 tuner, because most of our time would be spent tuning.
