This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The thing I love most about my students is the heart they have when they come to my classroom. Honestly, they are such an inspiration to me. More than 90% of them come from a very low income and socioeconomic household. However, they come to school every day in such good spirits ready to learn. It is almost like they use my classroom as an escape from what they are dealing with at home.

Having a KinderMarket in my classroom would add to the escape I like to give my students.

In Kindergarten, we work on our literacy and math skills. The students will be able to focus on those skills set in a dramatic play setting. They will be able to learn how to earn money and save money so they can buy their necessities. We have very limited time to teach social/emotional skills due to the extent of the focus towards reading and math. Additionally, the market would give my students the ability to interact on a more play level to build their social-emotional skills. I would use the market as a center that my students could go to.

I could see the excitement on my students' faces already if they were to have the opportunity to play and learn in the market. Being able to use this as a center at an early age, they can expand their knowledge as they continue their education.
