My students are third graders from a rural school in West Plains, Missouri. They are eager learners and are working hard to become more independent. I want my students to enjoy their time being kids in the classroom.
So many students that come into the classroom need a place they can feel at home, feel safe, and feel they have some ownership in their surroundings.
Homelessness is an unfortunate circumstance that some of our students experience and the school is their safe place. The school feels like their new home. I would like to make all of my students feel successful in the classroom by providing them with materials they can use.
My Project
The entire third grade has run out of erasers. We bought several hundred before school started, and we are already down to our last box!
Naturally during math, we go through quite a bit of erasers.
Third graders are responsible for learning several brand new math skills. One subject that is especially hard for them is financial literacy in math word problems.
I am asking for 30 boxes of pencil top erasers to share between the entire third grade at our school. Hopefully, this will take us into the next school year too. I have also asked for Avery address labels to label our math notebooks and supplies, as well as a glue pump. This will be used when we glue our word problems into our interactive notebooks.
This school year I bought six boxes of cap erasers for my classroom and the students had used them all by Christmas. This supply should last us quite a while.
