My students need a document camera along with basic supplies like composition notebooks and a pencil sharpener to participate in class. They also deserve a classroom that is well organized- which means need new bulletin board materials!
My students are bright, energetic, and creative middle schoolers. They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.
My students are dreamers who imagine the world as full of possibility and see themselves as future leaders, ideals I aim to encourage this coming year.
100% of my students come from low income households, and many are brand new to the United States. Most have experienced serious traumas in their lives. Despite the many hardships they face, my students are full of promise and potential. As one student puts it: "I'm not disadvantaged, I'm differently ADVANTAGED."
My Project
In order for students to even participate in a class, especially an English class, they need to be able to write. However, they can't write if they don't have paper!
By buying each student their own notebook (and a pencil sharpener), we guarantee that students will ALWAYS be prepared for class and ready to learn.
The other materials will help our class run smoothly-new trim for bulletin boards will used to shout out student accomplishments and show off their work. This gives students a sense of pride and ownership over the class, and will make them excited to learn.
Finally, the document camera will change the game when it comes to instruction. It allows me to model work to the students in real time, giving us more time to work on projects and readings!
