My middle school students are eager to get more music in their lives. Many of them come from high needs households and don't have access to musical instruments or lessons. No matter where students come from, they should each have the opportunity to bring the joy of music into their lives. I teach 6th grade general music to all students in the school, as well as a 7th grade general music elective course. So many of them come up to me all the time asking to play more instruments, but unfortunately we do not have the ability to let every child have one. I have seen the transformative effects that music can have on children in my older students. For many of them, it is the reason they wake up every morning to come to school. I want to do everything I can to provide these eager students an outlet for their creativity.
Funding this project will allow more students in my classroom the opportunity to experience the joy of music-making through playing the guitar. For many students, this will be the first musical instrument they have ever played. Many of them cannot afford to buy a guitar or a musical instrument on their own.
Music could potentially change their lives for the better and give them an outlet that will help them survive middle school.
Your help in funding this project will reach many kids year after year and help bring joy to the lives of many children. Thank you for your consideration
