My students are innovative, imaginative, and inquisitive! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things in order to grow both personally and academically.
We are at a low SES school, where the entire population receives free breakfast and lunch.
A good portion of our population is also military. Along with the challenges these students are facing being low SES or military, we also have a large majority with 504 plans or IEPs with diagnosed learning disabilities or challenges.
My Project
Science should be one of the most exciting subjects to learn about in school. What is even more exciting? The opportunity to learn these scientific topics through a hands on approach. Science should not be taught from a text book. Science should not be taught through a lecture. Science should be taught through inquiry. Science should be taught through trial and error. Science should be taught in fun and engaging ways.
With this science kit on human body, kids will be able to investigate human body systems, how they work together, and the link between health and nutrition.
My students will be examining human body systems and their interactions. They will have the opportunity to discover how systems are organized. They will get to participate in cooperative learning groups to explore and observe the way the systems work and how they work together. My students will get to make connections and see this all come together, the way the amazing human body does. Most importantly, they will be engaged and learning through experiences. Experiences that my students will retain.
