My Students

Sixty percent of the students in my class lost their homes and belongings in Hurricane Harvey. In addition, they lost their classroom too. We began school a month later than planned at a local church in town.

My students are brave and adaptable.

These are just a few words I could use to describe them. They have embraced this year and have made the best out of the traumatic time in their short little lives. I cannot say enough good things about this sweet little class.

My Project

Our school was flooded during Hurricane Harvey and our classroom furniture sat in flood waters for multiple days. This includes our horseshoe table. The place where everything happens in our classroom.

If the horseshoe table could talk, what a story it could tell!

It sees it all, hears all, and endures all! Our day in kindergarten begins and ends at the horseshoe table and everything in between happens there. I check student binders, solve problems, dry tears, mend friendships, and of course teach individualized lessons there.

My students would benefit in so many areas of their development if we had a new horseshoe table.
