This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are enthusiastic children who are ready to learn. They love to explore and answer questions about the world around them. They are great at helping each other and understanding each other's differences. They are some of the hardest workers I have seen.
My students are my inspiration and we push each other to be better every day.
They know that as long as they try their best they can reach their goals! With this growth mindset, my students are unstoppable.
In my 14 years of teaching at the same elementary school, I have had all kinds of students walk through my doors. Teaching in an predominantly low income setting can have its challenges, but that only makes the successes that much sweeter!
My Project
Please help me give my students their own reading and writing materials at home. Because of Covid, we are currently not allowed to share any resources at all. My kinders, however, still need daily practice with reading and writing. Reading online is great, but nothing can beat the experience of having your very own book in your hands and turning the pages.
I would love for my students to get their hands on REAL books at their reading levels to help them grow as readers.
This would be so much more developmentally appropriate for them. Having hands on writing materials that we could reuse will be such a big help with pencil and pen grip as well as how to correctly form the letters.
