My Students

Let me introduce you to America's next leaders. You may not have heard about these young people yet but they are next in line to make a change. For this change to take place, young people today need to see themselves in the curriculum taught. This is where my need arises. I have created a class rich in African American, Latinx, Asian, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, and women's history. This rich history cannot be taught in a single text.

IB History of the Americas came under my care three years ago.

It started as a 95% white student population of 24 students. In three years, it has grown to 128 students with an impressive 46/54 ratio of students of color to white students. All students can thrive in advanced-level coursework and all students should see themselves in America's history.

My Project

I need your help! If our hopes for a better future lie in the hands of today's youth, it is our responsibility to give them a set of tools to make change possible. An equitable retelling of history that speaks to all Americans. Reading books from many authors, that tells the story of many Americans, is the goal I have for my students. This book will allow students to delve into the history of Asian Americans, the struggles, and the triumphs.

It tells the story of struggle and despair but it also includes the resistance, rebellions, revolts, and the rising up of all Americans.

America's history includes African Americans, Latinx, Asian, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, and women and their stories are of resilience and bravery and need to be included in America's story.
