My Students

My students are a vibrant group of passionate, diverse and energetic middle schoolers! Each day when my sixth graders eagerly step into the classroom, a new adventure begins! They enter and are immersed in a variety of texts. We read, write, reflect, question, collaborate, explore, and gain new insights into the world around them. With each new piece of text they encounter, their world expands and they grow as these learners analyze, connect, and synthesize. Each day is a new adventure!

My Project

My students are studying the Hero’s Journey. I would like them to have the opportunity to read Percy Jackson’s The Lightning Thief. Many have read the book or seen the movie, but most have not read the graphic novel! Adding this to my classroom library will allow me to peer my students have them work together to track Percy and his friends as they search did Zeus's’ Lightning Bolt! The graphic novel format is sure to engage even my most reluctant reader. The vivid images will capture them and take them on the journey aside the characters!
