Help me give my students books that turned into movies for book club.

My students are problem solvers, passionate about learning and have an amazing thirst for knowledge. Many of my students have been in the same class since kindergarten and live in the same neighborhood. They understand each other's struggles and knows each other's goals. They share a common goal to not only make themselves better, but also their neighborhood.
My students are curious, empathetic, patient and resourceful despite the lack of some resources.
They amaze me with their resiliency and love for learning.
The books in the project will spark discussions to social/ emotional issues my students deal with every day. This book club will bridge the gap of traditional school reading and real world problems as well as provide a visual for the students to see after completion of a book. The Hate You Give is about a girl, Starr Carter, with whom my students can easily identify with is constantly switching between two worlds - the poor, mostly black neighborhood where she lives and the wealthy, mostly white prep school that she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is soon shattered. We will compare the themes of the novel and movie to our real world lives.
Many of my students have never read a complete novel and its about time that changes!
We will meet 3 times a week alternating reading a chapter or having a chapter read to them by me and have an open discussion. After we have finished reading Wonder which is a novel about tolerance , we will watch the movie and write an essay comparing the two.
Completing a novel such as A Wrinkle In Time, one that deals with the frequency of love will teach my students empathy as well as having confidence as good readers. I have seen a drastic change in the attitude towards reading "big chapter books" once I started modeling how to get through a novel without it seeming daunting.
