My Students
Our school is so big, it might as well be a small town. 4,000 students are enrolled and close to 900 of them visit the Library every day.
They come from diverse backgrounds, speak many languages, and believe in different things, but when they come into the library, their individuality, creativity, and desire to learn comes out, and they're not so different after all.
What I love most about my students is their self-confidence and their devotion to their academics and personal interests. They are more than students. They are learners.
My Project
We have invited Angie Thomas to Skype with us so that she can talk about her craft and provide insight into her book The Hate U Give and discuss the need for this story against the current political and societal backdrop.
Your donation will move the students of our school one step further to learning from a famous author, an experience they will surely never forget.
Ms. Thomas will act as a role model for our students. As woman of color, an author, and a human being, she has much to say to inspire our youth. Hers is a necessary voice in Young Adult literature and we are so excited to learn with her.
