Help me give my students books they have requested and a printer with ink so each student can make several personal books to take home and read to the special people in their lives.
Every morning when I wake up, I get my coffee and relax as I anticipate my day with the 17 preschool children that I have an opportunity to teach and mold into students that are Kindergarten ready. Each lesson plan I write is individualized for the students in my classroom, even if I have to use my own money to get the supplies I need to make that happen.
I love seeing their eyes light up with joy as they say good morning to me and offer me the most genuine hug because they are so excited to start the day with me.
By getting child chosen books and a printer, I’ll be able to encourage a love for reading and writing further in my room.
Also, with coronavirus causing everyone to stay home, I can use the books to read to the kids on Facebook.
My Project
Children in each classroom have many learning needs in common. However, each child may acquire these skills at an individual pace and in unique ways. Children arrive at school with different experiences and skills-as well as different family and cultural background, likes and dislikes, and various traumatic situations.
For preschool children to experience success in "reading" and to be encouraged to "read" further, there needs to be a focus on knowing each learner and an ability to individualize to the needs of each learner.
The books that are on the list, are books that the students in the class helped me choose. For this reason, I know these are books that will keep the interest of the students. I chose a black and white printer which will allow the students to make their own books and it will also encourage them to draw their own pictures.
