Help me give my students stylus for their iPads and Percy Jackson books that will build their vocabulary with Greek and Latin root based words while creating a more engaging lesson in reading and vocabulary knowledge.
My students come from various backgrounds. Most are ESE and there are low level and ESOL students as well. We could really benefit from materials that build interest in reading and learning vocabulary as well as overall engagement. The students love to laugh and are a blessing to have in class this year as we just opened the school. They have a lot of information to add about where they come from and are able to help each other be successful.
The students in my classroom will be able to read Percy Jackson in literature circles while breaking down Greek and Latin root words to comprehend meaning. The new vocabulary will help them to decode words and phrases that are used in state standardized assessments and become more fluent and engaged readers. The stylus pens allow them to use their iPads more efficiently to take notes, draw graphic organizers, and conduct research while creating performance based projects using their curiosity and creativity. With technology and a great book, the students will be able to show their knowledge about a variety of standards in reading and writing that align to their abilities.
