I need to attend the Get Your Teach On Conference to help me continue to learn about student engagement and how it applies to my new 4th grade classroom!
My classroom is a joy and my students are bright and shining stars! Every day I am privileged to come in and work with my students and see them make connections, work cooperatively and overcome so many obstacles.
I teach in a unique environment; I have students who come from great home lives and those who aren't sure where that night's dinner will come from.
With such a mix of backgrounds, it can be challenging to meet all of their needs. Each year I set myself the goal of reaching and helping each and every one of my students and helping them feel successful in their year in my classroom. I feel truly blessed to be entrusted with their education each and every day.
I will be privileged to work in a departmentalized classroom next year with two different groups of 4th graders. With so many students coming from so many different backgrounds, I want to be prepared to engage them as best I can.
My Project
Last year I was blessed to attend the Get Your Teach On conference and learn about what student engagement is, and how I could best engage my second grade students. This year I am moving up in elementary school and I will be teaching not one, but TWO 4th grade ELA classes. I am so excited, but I also know this is the point where students are becoming ambivalent towards school and developing the "I don't like school" attitude. My goal is to make this year so fun and engaging for them, it will ignite their passion for learning!
Brian Tracy said, “Those people who develop the ability to continuously acquire new and better forms of knowledge that they can apply to their work and to their lives will be the movers and shakers in our society for the indefinite future.” As a teacher, I know that I am helping to shape our future--our future teachers, doctors, police officers, politicians!
I need to do my absolute best to help inspire my students to reach further and grown more each school year. I know attending the Get Your Teach On conference changed my teaching career last year and that attending again will help me grow as an educator. The sessions touch on all subject areas, reading, writing, math, science and STEAM. I am especially excited for the reading and writing areas and to learn how I can use these strategies to engage my fourth graders.
By helping me to attend this conference, you will be impacting my classrooms for years! I know that this conference will provide me with the tools and drive to make my classroom the most engaging it has ever been. My students will BEG to come to school and won't want to leave!
