Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This would be my third year at our middle school, my students have won my heart and carry it with them on a daily basis. The school is located in the center of the hard working class of East Hialeah, in which creates the atmosphere of also hard working students. The students whom go to this school have a high percentage of which fall into the lowest 25% bracket of reading and mathematics level, and the school has a lot of ESE and ESOL students. The students at this school have a difficult economic status, I am a 6th to 8th grade Drama Magnet teacher as well as having a drama club after school, they are passionate about theater and love to be a part of any opportunity to showcase all their amazing talents.
Drama magnet started this year and we want to put on a grand show for the school and our audience, so my students can truly feel their importance and abilities are being shown.
My Project
My drama magnet students are working on the Greatest Showman, through tedious vocal/acting training and tireless choreography we are heading closer to our show date. Still needing to make and paint sets and props as well as costumes. These authentic time period costumes would help bring the show to life and show the students what it is to truly perform on a grand stage.
These costumes requested will help my students put on a vibrant show without the struggle of fundraising or coming out of their pocket, making them motivated and proud to show off their remarkable talents.
It is difficult for the students here to afford or fundraise for anything and it will be the greatest help.
