Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a moderate/severe, special education, transitional kindergarten class. For many of the students, my class is their introduction to school and it is here that they learn how to be students. The majority of my students come from low-income families who have limited access to books and school supplies. I am a new teacher and am trying to stock my classroom full of fun, interesting and engaging activities that will enable my students to learn and look forward to coming to school.
My Project
As I mentioned, I am a brand new teacher. Teaching younger minds requires providing experiences that will entice and engage all kinds of learners. These materials will enable my students with varying needs to develop skills in many areas. Having these treasures, including art supplies, academic games, puzzles and more, will help my students gain skills related to cognition, motor functioning and cooperative play. My students will be able to build foundation skills which will better prepare them as they grow as students and individuals.
