My Students

My students are fourth graders. They are the oldest kids in our Pk-4 school, which means they feel extra responsible for setting the standard at our school.

Fourth graders are curious, funny, chatty, joyful, and hardworking!

They are still excited to come to school each day and want to have a great time learning with friends and their teachers.

By fourth grade, some students have grown uninterested in reading. Giving them great texts is one way I think they can recapture that joy!

My Project

We had such a successful fundraising campaign that I was able to raise more than my first requested amount. My new gig in fourth grade is going to be great, but I have spent years collecting books for my current first grade classroom. I am leaving my entire first grade library for the new teacher, So, I did what any smart teacher would do, I went to School Library Journal and sought advice. She was able to guide me in the purchasing of 50+ more fiction and nonfiction titles.

This new batch of titles has a deeper nonfiction reach and also has sets of a variety of series books for those kids (and I was one of those) who like to read about the same characters again and again.
