Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are so full of life and strength. Most have been through much in life, and yet they are still persevering. They are resilient and inspiring. My students are constantly surprising me with what they know and who they are. They are special, not only because of what they have been through but because of what they are still continuing to live with. They are strong and funny and so very loving. I've learned that there is nothing that my students won't try to do.

My Project

Help me provide my students with a basketball play area. At my school, our students' recess consist of 6 swings, and a small playground area. We are a school of over 200 students across three grade levels that all share one playground area. Most of our students, boys and girls, are interested in basketball and play outside of school. We have a large grass field but no equipment for them to show off their skills. These goals will go towards us creating a space that allows them to play a team sport with their peers, that can not only allow them to have fun, but also teach them how to be a team.
