The Gladiator Cafe 2.0

Help me give my students some new appliances for our cafe like the Ninja blender. We are expanding our menu and offering smoothies, oatmeal, breakfast sandwiches, and snack boxes. We also need two new HomeCraft coffee urns!

My Students

Hello! Thank you for stopping by! I am a teacher of students with special abilities here in the great state of New Jersey! I work with a team of two other special education teachers to run a program where the main focus is on teaching functional daily living skills. Our students are kind-hearted and hard-working and welcome new opportunities to develop additional skill sets that will stay with them for a lifetime.

Our students benefit from a hands-on, multi-sensory approach to learning.

We believe in meeting the needs of all kinds of learners. Our students practice daily living skills every day while in school. On Friday mornings we run the Gladiator Cafe! Students prep and make food and coffee, wait on customers, work the registers, and follow individual and specific job duties. The Gladiator Cafe is our special way of contributing to the overall school community.

My Project

Our students spend a great deal of their day learning and practicing daily life skills and vocational skills. We try our very best to prepare them for the real world. We do this through creating meaningful experiences that promotes growth, encourages independence and starts them on the path to becoming a valuable member of their surrounding community.

One specific experience our students participate in is our school cafe.

It is called the Gladiator Cafe and we serve the staff coffee, bagels, and donuts on Friday mornings. This year, we have expanded our menu to include hot breakfast, smoothies, and snack boxes! We will be following certain procedures in order to complete the tasks needed to open the cafe each week. Students will each have a specific job (one that interests them or highlights a specific strength) and will work together to successfully run the cafe each Friday. The Ninja blenders and smoothies cups will be used for our new Pride House and Spirit House smoothies!! We will use the disposable containers for our new themed snack boxes and the coffee urns will serve hot coffee and hot water for tea and hot cocoa!
