My students need a variety of phonics, word and literacy activities and the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom activity tree to develop their reading and phonological awareness.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"I'm starting with the man in the mirror" are famous lyrics by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. I apply this song to teaching my students.
My kindergarten students are such a wonderful group of young people eager to learn each day.
They live in a high poverty area and attend a Title I school in our district. All of my students are on free and reduced lunch and breakfast. My students love to learn new things and love coming to school every day!
My Project
The resources I have asked for are mostly for enhancing literacy skills in the students. My students have a difficult time grasping basic reading skills such as comprehension, fluency, blending sounds to create words, recognizing beginning and ending sounds, sight words, alphabet recognition and sounds, and all of the other major skills needed to read and succeed. The activities I have requested will give the students various options in learning and manipulating to gain the reading skills. With these awesome literacy materials, my students will learn how to read! They will learn how to put letter sounds together and create real words.
It is so important in this day and age for students to receive a good education and learn to read and write in order to be successful in their life. My students already have a difficult home life, with little to no support from their guardians. I want to be able to give these students an excellent start to their education and build a strong foundation.
