Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love my students because they are all wonderful and are eager to learn, although they face many challenges! Everyday is a new opportunity to learn something new such as how to tie their shoes, learn to calm down their bodies to be safe, learn a new color, etc. My students are just awesome, exceptional children who never ever give up, so if they don't give up on themselves I dare not give up on them.

I service several students who have sensory motor, fine motor and visual motor needs that often impede their ability to participate in their educational program adequately.

Such difficulties are due to developmental delays, attention issues, learning disabilities, orthopedic impairments, Autism, Down Syndrome etc.

Providing these students the tools they need to learn and excel is of utmost importance. We are fortunate to count on great staff at Parker who really care. Unfortunately, we lack the financial resources to supply my students with supplies that will make such a huge difference in their lives. It takes a village!

My Project

These materials will enable self regulation, to remediate fine motor, visual motor and visual perceptual skills when possible, and to adapt the environment when remediating is difficult or unobtainable. This involves access to special tools and equipment that are not readily available or affordable. Items to assist in self-regulation such as weighted vests, balance boards and tablets. Thus will help these students access higher learning through online learning as well as some communication as I have some students who do not speak. In short, I hope that they have access to technology in order to give them many tools to succeed. These items are of significant need to enhance these hard working students' access to their education.
