My Students

We are a very energetic classroom with a very diverse population. We enjoy reading in class and having meaningful class discussions.

We incorporate cross-curriculum into our Language Arts Lessons.

This benefits the students in all areas of their education.

My students are motivated and like to have fun in the classroom. Many of the students are visual learners. Having books that they can hold in their hands are important to each one of them. They learn better through activities in which they can participate. We have a very large rate of military dependents and 42% of students receive free and reduced-priced lunch.

My Project

Having the actual book of "The Giver" will greatly benefit my students. Having the book to hold while reading is something that many students do not get the chance to do. These books will be used as part of a novel study, which opens up their eyes to new adventures.

With technology so important in their lives, many of my students forget what it's like to pick up an actual book and read.

During the novel study, students will apply reading strategies while partaking in multidisciplinary studies. They will use their strategies to help them better understand a topic from Social Studies. By using cross curriculum to teach concepts, my students will better understand the world around them!
