Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 3rd grade classroom is a wonderful mix of cultures and personalities. They all come from different kinds of family settings and social backgrounds. I have had these same students for 3 out of their 4 years at our school we are most certainly a family of 17. I definitely feel like I have 16 kids and have really had the opportunity to play a part in shaping who they are as amazing young people.
The students in my room are a hopeful glance into the future.
My classroom is full of students who are budding humanitarians, world leaders, problem solvers, and caring citizens. They are bright and caring kids who are all about filling a need and lending a hand.
My Project
My students are all about helping others and filling needs. They also are very hard workers and sometimes need a brain break. We are participating in the Unicef kid power up and for every ten videos we complete Unicef feeds a kid in need. We want to do more so Unicef also allows the kids to earn digital currency for activities completed tracked through the bands then the kids can turn that "currency" into change and impact the world around them. According to Unicef students are inspired to use their points to support the causes that matter most to them in their community such as supporting a local food bank or planting a tree. There are lots of ways students can use their points to make impact right in their backyard! This program allows the kids to see even though they are children they can make a difference. It's never too early to teach them they do matter, they can make a difference, and they should care about others.
