My Students

My students come from all over since we are a charter school. Their parents choose to bring them every morning and pick them up at the end of the school day. Parents are dedicated and involved in their children's education.

I love that my students come from varying backgrounds and experiences.

It makes for a unique classroom. Our classroom is one where students learn from their mistakes and from each other. They are very helpful to each other. This is the community we have built not just in our classroom but in our school.

My Project

My students love to listening to stories. I believe that listening to stories is, undeniably, important. Watching the text, as someone else is reading the words on the page, gives a child the chance to really comprehend a story. for a struggling reading, they can focus on the meaning of the book and not spend all their energy trying to read the words on the page.

Students of all abilities can benefit from hearing a story read aloud.

I have over 100 books on CD to share with my students, but our listening center CD player recently broke. My students have been asking for a couple of months when they will get to listen to books again. I want to give this opportunity back to my current students and for my future students to have the same opportunity.
