Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Please help me support my students' learning! I teach third grade at a Title I school in Richmond. My students are extraordinary in their own ways. Living in an area where most of these students have hardly seen anything but the street in which they live, technology allows them to leave their world behind and explore the outside world. My students are not given the resources that are necessary for them to develop their minds to the full potential. In my classroom I offer a variety of ways for them to explore and discover, through technology, literature and lessons.
I am a first year teacher, graduated last December.
I have learned so much about teaching and my students this year. My students have faced trauma and I strive every day to make their experience at school as exciting and engaging as possible. With your help, I am confident that my students will have more opportunities to grow!
My Project
My students need headphones to learn any sort of material that they are given over the internet. In the year of 2019-2020, some of the most meaningful lessons I assign are accessed through online intervention programs. These programs provide interactive and individualized practice/assessments tailored to each student and their specific needs. I purchased a bundle of headphones at the beginning of the year, but as most of you know about how kids are, the cheap headphones didn’t last long at all. In order for my students to succeed, I am looking to invest in some quality headphones that will last my students an entire year, instead of 2 weeks!
I want to gift my students with sound, for the last quarter many students have had to listen to lessons at a low volume or even no sound at all.
My students loose the meaning of education videos and even a read aloud without the resource of sound.
