My Students

I work with a wonderful and diverse class of 5th graders. They have a really wonderful work ethic and a passion for learning. They love reading new books and I struggle to keep books in my classroom that they haven't read. I have a passion for literacy and see first hand the impact it has on society. I love to see the faces and excitement of my students when they get a new book. It is truly a blessing and one of my favorite moments as a teacher.

My Project

I want to use this classroom set of books to encourage my 5th grade students as they transition into middle school. Transitioning from Elementary school to middle school is a huge transition for many of my students. I would like to use this book as a way to have discussions about choices and experiences they may face in middle school. I picked this book because it has a wonderful message about how our words impact others. In this day of social media and unlimited technology I am excited to see the difference in how my students will treat each other after reading this wonderful story.
